History
Diamond C Oklahoma was started from a passion of my Father. He always loved being around and working cattle on the Central Coast of California. He grew up being a cowboy for many places including the Hearst Ranch in San Simeon, California.
He went and started a career as being a plumber and introduced cattle to my brother and I as 4-H projects where the passion grew into a family affair. As the time went, we purchased a herd of Limousin cattle and began looking for more cattle and land to lease. From this herd we were raising Show Cattle to sell and eventually coined the name King Club Calves where we bred show steers and sold to kids on the west coast. In this venture we were able to raise the Champion Steer at Cow Palace in 1997. This just fueled the fire and the vision into raising the highest quality cattle.
During The late 1990’s I went to work for Vintage Angus ranch, working along side some of the great industry leaders in there Embryo Transfer Facility. From this experience I knew my path to follow. I did an internship with Precision Embryonics, Dr. Greg Garcia DVM. This is where I started seeing quality red cattle from Washington, Oregan and California. I started reading and studying genetics of the cattle. I focused on phenotypical characteristics that were not common to the breed, only to the elite cattle. These Characteristics were expression of muscle coupled with big bodied and sound structure. I started looking at the elite genotypical traits that would combine these. While studying cattle and trying to make my way through college as a transfer student to Kansas State University, I purchased my first Red Angus Cow with a bull calf on the side. She had already built a name and success for herself, she won the Iowa State Fair Shown by Kyle Connley and was the high selling heifer in Peipers production sale.
After leaving college, my family had an opportunity to sell the small acreage in California during the housing boom in the early 2000’s and purchase a place in Northeast Oklahoma. Here is where we started flushing that cow and purchasing more with all the aspects in mind. Things were slow to get started as building a career seemed to take priority. We were raising and selling bulls to commercial cattleman at a value for them to be successful. After my 2 sons started showing passion for showing and raising livestock, the search was on to look at cattle and grow the herd.
On a weekend visit to see my 2 boys, Colton and Sawyer, in Stephenville Texas is when we decided to call John B. Collier, tour his ranch, and look at cattle. From there, we purchased a heifer as a show prospect, and developed a friendship. Through our wild stories of when we were in college and our passion for cattle, our friendship evolved to a partnership…producing the most unique set of Red Angus Cattle and the greatest friendship.
